After a super-rainy start to the year like we’ve had, the golden sunshine that lit Faith and Heath’s glorious wedding day felt heaven-sent. It bathed the girls suite at Victoria’s at Ewingsdale in a soft, elegant glow to match the luxurious rooms. It sent rainbows over Eureka Uniting Church’s pews and Faith and Heath’s guests through the beautiful stained glass windows. Then it sank behind the hills in a blaze of red and gold just in time for us to grab some spectacular images at the Byron Bay lighthouse. It felt like fate to have such a perfect day… for such a perfect day.

Way back in February I had the honour of photographing Amanda Palmer during her interview with Mel Bampton for Yen Magazine. It was my first super-important shoot of anyone I really idolise, of anyone REALLY famous (this woman has over 50,000 Twitter followers!), and way outside the realm of live music that I’m used to shooting. Lucky for me, it was not so far outside of the realm of portraiture! So I figured, what better way to kick off my brand new blog than with a little AFP?

It was all very casual – I just shot while Amanda and Mel chatted, and I was really happy with how the photos turned out. Someone else must have been too – one of the shots was printed on a full page in last month’s Yen Mag, and another quite large on the page facing. Maybe one day Amanda will see them, and I hope she likes them too.
