I have a slightly unusual stance on traditions. I love the idea of following a tradition that was set down by family, that carries meaning, and that brings with it wonderful memories of days gone by. I don’t love the idea of following traditions for traditions sake, without understanding the meaning – and that’s why I’m all for throwing tradition out the window if my couples wish to do so.
Ashley and Curtis began their epic love at age 18 – just like Ashley’s parents. A lovely (if not somewhat coincidental) tradition. Ashley proposed to Curtis at the Grand Canyon, and of course he said yes. A lovely break from tradition! Their wedding day was very similar – a mixture of the traditions they loved and some new traditions of their own; of old world glamour with a 2016 twist; of tears and laughter and family and friends. It was a joy to capture and I’m so excited to share their images.
