Emma and Josh’s wedding day was everything a girl could dream of. The weather was perfect – not a cloud in the sky. The girls were radiant in flowing cream gowns, the boys were boisterous and grinning, Emma & Josh’s little ones were full of beaming smiles. The day was blissful. When I got home I was dead tired but still riding high. I dutifully backed up my memory cards before I hit the hay.
The next morning I couldn’t wait to look through the images, but I noticed some were missing… That’s when I realised I’d left one of my cameras behind, one memory card still inside. My heart dropped not just through my chest, but through the floor. The camera I could live without – it’s insured, of course – but those photos were part of Emma and Josh’s story, and I would do anything to not lose those memories.
Lucky for me, someone had handed my poor little camera in to the bar staff at the venue and it was safely returned to me that afternoon. I don’t think I breathed for hours, until it was back in my hands. I don’t know for sure, but judging from the last few photos I found on the card, a few boys had a little fun taking inebriated photos with it before they handed it over. I’m glad they had a good time, and I kept a few of those shots in Emma and Josh’s final gallery just for fun! The camera was sporting an 85mm f1.4 lens, which is a very close and very shallow depth-of-field lens, so they didn’t have much luck focussing it – check out my favourite of their efforts:
Let’s get one thing straight here – I am Little Miss Organisation, Master of Lists, Preacher of Preparation. I DO NOT leave belongings behind. But I guess we all screw up sometimes, and I’m so glad that in this case, everything turned out fine. It’s certainly taught me to run a quick stocktake before I leave a wedding from now on!
Scroll on to see the perfection for yourself. I think the scare makes me love these images even more.
Thank you to the wonderful vendors who all contributed to the perfection of Emma and Josh’s wedding day!
