“Keep it secret, keep it safe.” Lord of the Rings quotes notwithstanding, Kylie and Matt did an amazing job keeping their family-only Brisbane City wedding secret – and don’t worry! The word is out now, so I’m not giving anything away with this post!
As soon as Kylie’s wedding gown was on, the tears started – she was nervous, overwhelmed by the sight of herself as a bride, but excited to marry the man of her dreams. When Matt came to her room at the Stamford Plaza to see his bride before they left for their ceremony, the tears dried quickly – replaced with dazzling smiles.
Married before immediate family in the City Botanic Gardens, transported by Brisbane’s iconic “green cab” and celebrated with a degustation lunch, my favourite part of Kylie and Matt’s day was their First Looks – yes, plural – one once-in-a-lifetime moment for the bride and groom, and another for the bride and her father. Kylie’s dad was overcome with emotion at the sight of his little girl, somehow all grown up and looking every inch like a bride. I’m something of a sympathetic crier, so I was tearing up too – lucky I had a camera to hide behind!
I also learned a valuable trick from this day – keep a crochet hook handy to do up those fiddly wedding gown buttons – ESPECIALLY if your girls will be wearing acrylic nails!
