It stormed during Shelby and Hayden’s wedding ceremony. I happen to be one of those people who loves rain and storms, but in this case it seemed extra special – like it was Shelby’s beloved Nanny & Poppy, no longer with us but present in the charms on Shelby’s bouquet, were showing they were truly walking with her on her special day.

I was blown away by the personal touches Shelby and Hayden chose to represent their love and their loved ones – they chose to keep things simple, honest and elegant. The rings the couple now wear as a symbol of their promise belonged to two sets of these sweetheart’s grandparents, having honoured the loves of their lives for decades before finding their new homes on Shelby and Hayden’s fingers. The bridesmaids each carried a single long-stemmed red rose, and Shelby a bright bouquet of sunflowers. Their beautiful fur baby Sammy trotted the rings down the aisle on her collar, accompanied by Hayden’s mum, and Shelby’s team of beloved uncles shared the role of walking her down the aisle. Plus, these guys weren’t scared of the rain at all – we got soggy in the park, we got crazy in a multi-story carpark and we had a blast capturing one of the best days of this lovely couple’s lives.
