The Burgmann Family’s Brisbane Garden Family Photo Session

The best part about this wonderful afternoon family session - besides making this collection of photos - was seeing how excited young Xavier and Ruby were to see the wildlife at the Mt Coot-tha botanic gardens. We saw turtles, caterpillars, kookaburras and SO many water dragons - it made me realise I really do need to go outside and touch some grass more often! It was also very cool seeing how Mum (Kat) and Dad (Gary) teach their kids to interact with wildlife - gently, respectfully and cautiously.

In case you were wondering, yes - these gardens are one of my favourite places in Brisbane for family portraits! There’s so much to explore with the kids, which makes play and candids a breeze without bright coloured playground equipment or toys being necessary (although personal and precious toys always help - Ruby’s bunny and Xavier’s Bumblebee transformer “helped” me take lots of pictures on this shoot!). The afternoon light is spectacular, there are lots of loos and you’ve got backdrops from lakes to lawns to cactus yards and flower-lined paths for a varied portfolio of photos. It’s the best!
